What is halotherapy (salt therapy)?
Halotherapy is dry salt inhalation. A Halogenerator, a machine that grinds salt into a powder, disperses tiny particles of salt into the air. The air becomes whitish and the salt is breathed deep into the lungs, sinuses and bloodstream.
The salt decreases inflammation in the lungs — from wildfire smoke, asthma, allergies, COPD, stress/anxiety, or any other condition that causes lung inflammation. Salt Therapy has amazing benefits for the skin as well, creating negative ions on the body’s surface, which can support rosacea, eczema, psoriasis, acne and more. By inhalation through the nasal & oral airways, salt supports the thinning and expulsion of mucus while also absorbing irritants and allergens; this can help with sinusitis, congestion, cough/cold and more.
Salt therapy is a natural complimentary therapy with health benefits for the respiratory system, inflammation and skin conditions. Negative ions help with relaxation, stress, mood, sleep, anxiety, depression. Athletes use it for muscle recovery and sports performance.

MORE ABOUT SALT
Salt is anti-bacterial. The tiny salt particles remove pollutants, allergens and infections from the lungs, sinuses and airways. Salt reduces inflammation in the deep cavities of the lungs and thins mucus. After a halotherapy session, breathing is easier and more efficient, and there is more oxygen in the blood.
seasonal allergies
Salt therapy is very effective for relief of allergy symptoms from seasonal allergies especially Hay Fever. The best way to use salt therapy for seasonal allergies is regular sessions right BEFORE your allergy season starts. A month or so of 2-3 sessions per week can help to decrease or prevent seasonal allergy symptoms altogether.
Can Salt therapy replace medical treatment for asthmA?
Salt therapy is a natural complimentary therapy. Asthma sufferers have experienced benefits from salt therapy such as improved quality of life and being able to reduce use of medications, inhalers and hospital visits. The Himalaya Salt Cave does not diagnose or prescribe treatment for any conditions. Always consult a medical professional before changing use of medications.

Medical Research Studies on Salt Therapy:
Many research studies have been conducted in Europe and Russia. Doctors have been using salt therapy for upper and lower respiratory conditions since the mid 1800s. Some of these studies can be found on the Salt Therapy Associations Website.
“ I have experienced such shift on so many levels. I now recommend it to everyone!
Visiting the cave once in a while is lovely, but I started to notice a huge shift once I started going 3 times a week. I realized last week it was winter season and normally at this time I can’t breathe through my nose. And for the first time in years my sinuses were clear.
I also found that my immune system is just so much stronger... I also find the salt really helps with mood! It helps lighten my mood if I’m feeling heavy. It’s become such a beautiful part of my self care and healthcare practice. ”
